How to Be a #GirlBoss

Girl Boss. Everyone wants to be one, but do you know how? Being a Girl Boss has alway been around.  Now i‹#t just has a cool title. It comes from the fabulous book Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso founder of Nasty Gal. If you have aspirations of being an entrepreneur or just to be the best at whatever it is you do then you need to head to Amazon or run to your nearest books store to grab a copy. Now how does one become a Girl Boss? Read on below for the answer to that burning question.
How to Be a Girl Boss
Dream big
First things first, you’ve got to dream big darling. Dreams are often the forgotten roadmaps to our lives. Many times our dreams are so big we become afraid to pursue them and instead we make our dreams smaller or ignore them completely and settle. Not you Girl Boss. Know that dreaming big dreams is a part of the territory and don’t be afraid to do it. If you become afraid think about how you will feel 10 years from now if you don’t at least try. How will you feel if you don’t at least try to pursue your biggest dream? Don’t have a big dream? Well then this next step is for you.
Experiment
One of the amazing things about being a Girl Boss is that you get to experiment. Often times we go to college, get a job, and we stop creating, learning, and experimenting. Life does not end after college. It really just begins. Just because you got a degree in one area does not mean you are limited to that one area for the rest of your life. Can you imagine how boring that would be? I can. That’s why I urge all millennial women to stop limiting themselves and to experiment with and explore what it is they like and what makes them happy. Experimenting is all about taking action in order to find clarity.
Make mistakes
Just as sure as you step out and experiment you will make mistakes. Mistakes always get such a bad rap when in actuality they are just lessons disguised as bad decisions, wrong turns, and let downs. Mistakes are actually a good thing. If you’re making mistakes it means you’re trying and if you’re trying then you will get to wherever it is you’re trying to get to. The key is not to let a mistake hold you back. When you make a mistake instead of letting it get you stuck, write down how you feel about it, why you feel that way, what you learned, and how you can use it to move forward. Believe me, there’s nothing worse than a wasted mistake.
Become an Expert
Once you begin experimenting and making mistakes you’ll find what it is you’re passionate about. It will be like déjà vu. Every time you come across it you’ll feel excited, invigorated even. You’ll want to know more and more about it. Once you find the thing(s) that you are passionate about, learn as much as you can about it.  Research it. Get really good at it and become an expert on the topic.
Take risks
In the spirit of The Hunger Games, May the odds be ever in your favor. No, but seriously being a Girl Boss means taking risks. It means believing in yourself and your dreams enough to take a chance. It means betting on yourself even when you don’t feel like you have a clue in the world. It means constantly putting yourself out there for the sake of living your dreams and changing the world. At the end of the day, it’s always worth it. Look on the bright side. You’re already good at taking risks. I know this because every day you wake up and step out of your house you take a risk. Yes, waking up and leaving your home are considered risks. So see, you’re already a pro at taking risks and you didn’t even know it.

Now that you know what it takes to be a Girl Boss, fill in the blank below in the comments section.

  2. Loved this post! I'm learning now that it's ok to chase your dreams and it's ok to be slightly scared of them. They may be big dreams but you will never know how far you can go if you don't try to get farther! A Girl Boss is dauntless! #BLMGirl

  3. I love this. To me, a Girl Boss is a woman who doesn't allow her fear to make her stagnant. :)
